After a couple of very muddy years at Western Reserve, Orewa, Metro Park in Millwater has played host to the Hibiscus Half Marathon (formerly Run Orewa) since 2024. This superb sports facility features enormous flat playing fields, providing a perfect blank canvas upon which we can build our event base.
Metro Park is an enormous multi-sport facility near the Millwater exit of the northern motorway. The main event space is roughly the size of two cricket fields and - try as we might - the event footprint only occupies about 20% of the available space. That means there's plenty of room to spread out, soak up the sun and get yourself ready to run. The grass fields and surrounding concrete paths are ideal for warm-ups and - in addition to the event portaloos - you'll find well-appointed public toilets and changing rooms at either end of the fields.

Venue Map
The event finish line and main venue are on the eastern side of the cricket pitches, nearer the estuary than the road. If you are orientating yourself on a GPS steet map, the nearest cross street is Vivian Rd at Millwater Parkway (near the toilets and the Millwater Parkrun start line). There is no official event parking but the main Metro Park car park and surrounding streets make it pretty easy. Allow 5-10 mins to walk to venue.
The start line is only a hop, skip and jump from the finish line.
